  • Discover the Clermont-Ferrand short film festival

Clermont-Ferrand hosts the short film festival every year, which is today the world's largest cinematographic event devoted to short films. In terms of audience, it is the second largest film festival in France after the Cannes Film Festival and an international reference. If you can free yourself for a day or more, you will discover an exciting universe, whether by watching dozens of films or meeting producers and other directors. We strongly recommend that you plan your visit in advance as the festival attracts a lot of visitors. Indeed, it is a popular event to meet a lot of people, talk about films, projects in development and to appreciate lots of quality short films. For one week, you will be able to attend more than 300 screenings recounting the creativity that drives contemporary cinema. Thus, for the 2022 edition, the Clermon t-Ferrand International Short Film Festival will offer no less than 315 screenings devoted to short films. Beyond being a meeting place between the public and the directors, it is also an opportunity to rediscover the pleasure of dark rooms. And to taste unusual sessions such as the cinema-swimming pool session at the Pierre-de-Coubertin nautical stadium, where spectators are invited to watch the films comfortably seated on buoys! But also the Pop-Up competition (defined as a window on the short coming from the web to "create a bridge between emerging digital creation and film festivals", the YouTube prize for short fiction film or the Queer Métrage prize which distinguishes a film from one of the three competitions (national, international and Lab) for its openness to the "norm-resistant world". The heart of the festival is located along the boulevard François Mitterrand at the Maison de la culture, at the Comédie de Clermont-Ferrand, at the Salle Conchon, at the amphitheater Agnès-Varda (ex-Gergovia in the premises of the university ), but also at the Jetée, at the Dollet university residence, at the Clermont Métropole art school and at the Pierre-de-Coubertin nautical stadium. And the festival shop (which also acts as a ticket office like the Maison de la culture) is usually at the Jaude 1 centre. Festival dates: every year, beginning of February. • Discover the local culinary specialties

During your stay in Auvergne, let yourself be tempted by a local specialty to soak up the best of the land and its typical dishes. During your stay in Vichy, escape and discover specialties not to be missed. La truffade The truffade is THE typical dish from Auvergne, made with potatoes, fresh tomme, salt and pepper and served with raw ham from Auvergne and green salad. Originally, it was prepared by the shepherds who left for long periods in the mountain burons and takes its name from the word “trufada” which means potato in Auvergne dialect. Be careful, the potatoes must be well grilled in a pan! La potée auvergnate Another essential dish from Auvergne, the Potée Auvergnate (Auvergne hotpot) is another dish "which will keep you warm" with many vegetables (cabbage, turnip, carrot and potato) and meat (lean bacon, pork leg and sausage). Everything simmers for long hours in a large pot and the cabbages are braised with the charcuterie. Le petit salé aux lentilles Another flavorful dish to be enjoyed to warm up in the middle of winter, the petit salé aux lentilles (salted lentil dish). It is a melting dish thanks to the consistency of the lentils and the pork cooked in brine, which had little success as early as the 14th century. If it grows in Puy-en-Velay, the lentil benefits from a controlled designation of origin.
